Note-producing and Note-reading Patterns of Turkish Students in Consecutive Interpreting

Consecutive interpreting (CI) is a mode of verbal translation between source and target language (TL) which “involves listening to what someone has say then, when they have finished speaking, reproducing the same message in another (Gillies, 2017, P. 5). Note-taking, fundamental skill process long CI, refers activity jotting down speech highly individualised style then recreating original by help combination notes, memory, general knowledge (Albl-Mikasa, 2008; Gillies 2017). To better understand expertise context Turkey, study examined idea-identifying, note-producing, note-reading patterns 26 undergraduate Turkish students majoring English Language Translation Interpreting. The data for were obtained from three official exams. results revealed preference use word note form over other ones among students. They also confirmed performances high-level Moreover, it was found that than their note-producing ones. findings are pedagogically useful teachers classes practically helpful practitioners field.
